The purpose of these amateur videos is to highlight my guitar playing to demonstrate that I have some competency in music. I'm not looking for people to critique me on how good or bad they think I am technically or creatively. I am certainly good enough as a player to create and perform in a successful band situation. I am seeking to start or join a rock band in the Austin metro area in Texas focusing on creating and promoting original music. I prefer synth/guitar dominated instrumentation with either female or male vocals. The style of music that I like to play is quite varied and some of this is from 80s bands: Birthday Massacre, Garbage, Pat Benatar, Peter Murphy, Xymox, Echo and the Bunnymen, the Fixx, Rush, the Cars, Ultravox, Siouxsie and the Banshees, Roxette, Berlin, Van Halen, the Scorpions, Billy Idol, Dokken, etc. I know the market in the US is quite limited for this kind of music these days, but there are always possibilities to create something unique in rock music without being too gothic or heavy. Garbage was a good example of a straightforward rock band with good songs - not too heavy and not too soft. I studied music in college and have played the guitar for a long time. After years of doing what I don't love and enjoy the most (working for corporations or trading in the stock market), I want to pursue my dream and achieve some success and enjoyment in a dynamic rock music career before I leave this world. I don't take any drugs and I'm not motivated to musical success in order to have lots of sex with women. Yet, if you can be creative, dedicated, practice and perform effectively and still have these other distractions scattering your energy, then more power to you. I love music and wish to create and perform for a living, and hopefully make a good living doing that and even have the opportunity to play at venues around the world at some point. "If This Is It" is a song by American rock band Huey Lewis and the News. It was released as the fourth single from their number-one album Sports in 1984, and became their fifth top-ten and third consecutive number-six hit on the Billboard Hot 100. It also reached number five on the Adult Contemporary chart, and then became their first UK hit single, reaching number 39 on the UK Singles Chart.
The music video for the song was shot on the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk. For the scene where most of the band appear to be buried up to their heads in sand, they claim to have genuinely been buried. The band made a cameo appearance in the film, Amazon Women on the Moon, in which they spoofed the video.
The popular Canadian teen drama Degrassi: The Next Generation, which is known for naming each episode after a 1980s hit song, named an episode after this song.
